We love our customers. You all feel that when you're shopping right? We totally realize that the cream of the crop shop here and we are generally totally spoiled by how fun and interesting each of you are. We get obsessed with telling each other who came in during our shift and what they were wearing and what they're into and what they bought. Shannon is one of our favorites and we were totally blown away when she agreed to do her Mother's Day gift guide with us. No doubt she is the coolest dressed bureaucrat we know and we love seeing what she pulls off the racks as her favorite. This gal has terrific style that has the chillest ease to it... Without further delay, here is her gift guide:
Valerie Dumaine Summer dress, 199$ (available at both locations)
Says Shannon: "I LOVE this dress, I would find ways to wear it everywhere & anywhere... to work (brogues & a blazer), running errands & hanging out with the fam (suede vest & flat lace-up boots), date night/wedding/reunion (pumps & red lips). I mean, it's named "Summer"... clearly, it is the ideal summer dress.
"Every Mom should have a Mexican hammock...a real, hand-crafted, cotton, net hammock. Being in one basically guarantees the following: 1 - you're outside floating in fresh air; 2 - your field of vision is literally filled with a totally new perspective on the world; and, 3 - you probably just figured out the meaning of life... but can't share it right now... too blissfully happy..."
The Lost City tank (25$, available at West) & Valerie Dumaine Lexi skirt (available at both locations in tan & black)
"Mr Ron Burgundy said it best... I love scotch! Scotchy, scotch, scotch!!! A bottle of Dalwhinnie will do (cute name too, right?!)"
Deborah Adams fringe bag (90$, both locations)
"It's a fact, moms need a bag. To avoid eventually becoming a hunch-back from carrying one that's so big you manage to haul around every piece of junk item your kid owns, pick this one!! It's cool, sans velcro, the prefect size to throw in a bike basket, and it will hold the essentials for both a 3 year old and mom (e.g. sippy cup, raisins, facecloth, iPhone, crayons, wallet, lip balm, bottle of bubbles). BAM - you're done!!"
"Of all the many strange and terrible gifts I have given my most amazing & beautiful mother... this is one of the worst. Being the pre-teen weirdo I was, I made a Mother's Day mix-tape for her with songs that celebrated women. Sounds nice? Nope. My take on that did not include any of her favourites like Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray or Zamfir - but had instead tunes such as Furnaceface's "If You Love Her, Buy Her a Gun"... oh man, I think I owe my Mom some really good scotch this year. And a Mexican hammock..."
Thanks Shannon, and don't forget to nominate someone (or yourself!) for the Mother's Day giveaway!

Oh man, shannon! the best!
I thought that it's worth mentioning that Dave Dudley who played drums in Furnaceface now owns Dave's Drum Shop on Gladstone st. It is such a great shop full of good ~vibes~ and the best selection in the city. Always time for a shout-out to local businesses na' mean?
